Team + Work = Teamwork
“…when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love."  - Ephesians 4.16
Teamwork is universally lauded as a critical ingredient for success in any business or organization. Everyone believes in the importance of teamwork. But, too often, everyone wants to be a part of the “team” but not everyone wants to be part of the  “work.”
As Paul describes the Lord’s church in Ephesians 4, he emphasizes the unity and oneness seen in an effectively functioning body. It is a goal of each part of the body. The body must work together as a team in order that it might “grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ” (v. 15).
God does not regard any member of His body as insignificant. Each is necessary. Every part is there for a reason. God designed it that way. That means you and I are designed to be a working part of the body of Christ.
As our new work group “teams” begin this weekend, you have an opportunity to be an effective part of the body. The image of a body highlights the fact that the head (Christ) empowers each member to contribute to the overall edification of the entire body. It is something each of us can do. We need everyone in each team to participate - to work - so that we may have good “teamwork.”  We need you to be a part of the team. You will draw strength from being connected to the body and the body will be strengthened because you are doing your part, no matter how small.
I urge everyone to commit to the “team” this year. Let’s work together, grow together, so that “…when each part is working properly, it makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
