Prayer Rooted in Scripture
O Lord and God Most High,
You are merciful. Gracious. Long-suffering and abounding in goodness and truth. You have shown mercy to countless souls, forgiving iniquities, transgressions, and sins. But by no means will clear the guilty. Help us to meditate upon things which are true. Noble. Just. Things which are pure and lovely and of a good report. And all things virtuous and praiseworthy. We pray Father that we strive for You continuously. That we look into Your word. That we hunger and thirst for You.
Father, we pray that we look towards each other. That as we go through this world that we recognize those who are in need physically and spiritually. And especially those of the household of faith.
Father, we pray that we walk in the faith. That we become more faithful each and every day. That we recognize, Father, that we are not to conform to the pattern of this world. But that we are to be transformed daily by the renewing of our mind to the purity of Your way.
We know, Father, that if we ask anything according to Your will, that You hear us. And if You hear us, we know that we have the petitions in which we have requested of You.
We know, Father, that Your eyes are upon the righteous and Your ears are attentive to their prayers. But Your face is against those who do evil. We pray, Father, that we're not complacent with this pilgrimage through this world. But that we buffer ourselves daily against the wiles of the devil. Striving to spread that good news and to rescue the perishing. We pray that we're content with what we have in this life. Not striving for the fruitless efforts of it.
Father, we pray that you lead us and teach us.
For You are the God of our salvation. On You we wait all the day.
In your Son’s precious name, we pray.
Amen.
